photo an hour | december

i’ve never done a photo an hour before, so i thought i’d give it a try… i personally am a huge fan of reading ‘day in the life’ posts so i hope you enjoy it too. this was sunday, december 4th, 2016, and was a special day as it was our first full day of being dog owners in the czech republic!

9:00 – as the first out of bed and dressed, i took ferdie out. it was looking exceptionally wintery that day, as you will soon see!

10:41 – breakfast! this breakfast just so happens to be my absolute favorite – paprika-dusted poached eggs on avocado toast with beans in tomato sauce. theeee best. starbucks christmas blend is in our french press. weekend brunches and breakfasts are my favorite.

11:00 – cute dog is cute.

12:03 – heading out to have a wintery forest walk with some new friends! ferdie has his first ever bus ride. 

13:00 – seriously, that wintery forest is so beautiful! i was able to gather loads of lovely pine and fir boughs.

14:23 – after a café

stop to warm up with some homemade perníkové latte (better than starbucks) + cake, we couldn’t just not wander to the christmas market. alicia had some of the oštiepok cheese. we were all jealous. alex shows his true personality. (oštiepok are these salty, smoked cheesy patties that you can often buy grilled at markets in slavic countries – they are the actual best) our market also has an ice rink this year… just keeps getting better. ice skating, anyone?

16:02 – it’s starting to get dark out… and this was my view of “the boys” enjoying our living room.

17:06 – lesson planning was difficult today… i was so dang tired from being up all night from ferdie’s first night with us and him scampering all over there room (and even barking once when alex left the room – fortunately this has not happened since). first nights are hard. you can see my unintentional baby bangs from when i cut them a wee bit too short two days before in a fit of frustration.

18:09 – a snap i took, not for ‘photo an hour’, but rather to help me remember some speaking exercises i want to do with my class the following day.

a quick bowl of soup, some chats with alex, & a skype date followed – i temporarily forget about the challenge again.

21:25 – because it’s too late to start our sunday night movie (i have chronic ‘fall asleep during movies’ syndrome), i decide it would be better to craft my wreath instead while listening to songs for christmas.

so i leave you with two last photos as i sort of slacked there. the finished wreath is that very first photo at the top of this post – i hoped to find some berries or something else interesting in the forest, but at least i got my branches – can’t do much without those.

happy friday, friends! i am overjoyed we made it generally unscathed out of our first week as dog owners. so excited to go pick out our tree tomorrow. it’s a bit of an odd thing that we actually have a real box of christmas ornaments here as this is our fourth christmas in our house! (it’s blowing my mind)
