Autumn,  Daily Life

Lately, Fall Pt. II

this has been a weird week. the weather has been strange (highs of 20’C some days!) and been thinking a lot about the czech republic. one day loving it, the next, exhausted by the stares of crabby old people. thinking about friends, about relationships, about life, about home…..

but at least it wasn’t as weird as last week with no electricity, hot water or heat! so thankful to be warm.

preparing now for a nice little weekend in eastern bavaria! i haven’t been to bavaria in years, and i’m rather looking forward to a little shopping, some mugs of helles from a famous old brauerei, rich history and architecture and autumn colors. because autumn in germany is very special and is not to be missed.

some snippets from the past two weeks…

every thursday i make a 25 minute walk from one lesson to another. the scenery can be quite gorgeous.

a classroom i often teach in, adorned with beatles posters. (abbey road is on the wall you can’t see) each room is a theme from british pop-culture…. so you could say i am lucky.

two students of mine moaning on the floor because i told them that i did not bring UNO that day.

a cookie a student baked for me…. and it was the BEST COOKIE EVER. student gifts fill me with warm fuzzies.

a “sun tonic”, at klub slavie. the orange (glowing) ball contains metaxa, and you must pour it into soda. we were there to see první hoře, an amazing czech band that is best described as “futuristic kabaret-jazz punk”. yes.

and with that, happy weekend one and all.
