Life Abroad,  Milestones

six months

happy march! yesterday was the big six month in europe milestone, since we landed in glasgow, scotland on august 31, 2012 shivering in our summer clothes. six months in europe was sort of the baseline: the minimum time spent here for me to consider this adventure successful. hooray!

of course being away from home for over six months (seven since washington!) there are a few comforts i miss…..

basically allllll of my billion jackets because it’s cold here and i love them. (the zara jacket i have now is pretty and lessens the pain) and that leafy green plant–kale– is NOT to be found here in the czech republic. it’s just not a central europe thing, sadly. neither are the plentiful range of fruits and vegetables one is accustomed to being able to purchase YEAR ROUND in the northwest. (spinach? fuhgetaboutit. avacados? maybe if you’re lucky!) also not a central europe thing. but things aren’t everything, no sir because what i miss most is friends and family of course.  it can be tough to be away from people you love, especially when you live in a medium sized czech city and know little to no people your age within 125km. (strangely enough i know plenty of czech folks aged +50 here)

but we are very happy here– i feel like we did it ! struggles and stress is over, spring is coming and i’m excited.

here are some of my favorite photo memories from the past six months…. see if you can guess where they are!
